Social Change
I have long been interested in social justice issues which likely led me to become a social worker in my first career focusing on issues related to abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and addictions.
With George Floyd's murder by a Minneapolis police officer in May 2020, my understanding of our country's foundation and history broadened substantially. His death along with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic expanded my worldview which evolved into creating various social change and movement series (Bus Stop Dreams, Covid-19 and Tucson Frontline Workers, Tucson Black Voices, What White People Think, and Voices of Race) as well as documenting protests, rallies, marches and vigils as my schedule allowed.
Below are some samples of my work with brief explanations provided. Please reach out if you would to discuss this aspect of my service, set up an appointment to view full galleries of given events, and/or if you have a social change project that I may be able to help you with.
This slide deck is a cross sampling of various actions that I have documented in 2025 and 2026.
Project Blue and the No Desert Data Center Coalition (NDDCC)
Project Blue is a hyper-scale data center development in Pima County, Arizona by Beale Infrastructure. The No Desert Data Center Coalition(NDDCC)is a leaderful coalition that formed in June of 2025 when the covert Project Blue development became public knowledge.
The NDDCC is dedicated to protecting water, desert, and community from the Project Blue Data Center plus other extractive industries. This work extends across Tucson, Pima County, and the Santa Cruz River Watershed as a whole.
This slide show is a brief sampling of the 50+ Coalition and Project Blue-related events I have documented since June 2025 (community forums, public protests, Tucson City Council meetings, Pima County Board of Supervisor meetings, private gatherings, online meetings, surveying the Project Blue land, Arizona Corporation Commission meeting, individual meetings with Tucson City Council Representatives, community-based training, etc.).
Please reach out if you would like to view more of the work and the stories behind each of these images.
Binational Gathering in San Rafael Valley
On 05/31/25, I photographed an community event near Lochiel, Arizona on the US-Mexico border. A celebration of binational friendship and the San Rafael Valley grasslands, the event was also an expression of opposition to the extension of the border wall proposed by the Trump administration.
Click on this link to read the article I wrote about my observations and experience on what was a most special day. We spent weeks cutting out and painting migratory birds to share with our Mexican neighbors as a symbolic gesture of humanity and creatures migrations across all time and place.Â
As of July 2026, 3 of the cottonwood trees estimated to be 250 years old and home to dozens of bird species and other animals, have been bulldozed down as the border wall encroaches on the land that has been shared for generations.
May Day March and Rally, 05/01/26
The term "mayday" is an international term signalling distress and it was first coined in the 1920's by a London radio operator. On May 1st, 2026, hundreds of cities across the United States and world hosted a May Day Rally. These images are from the one held in Tucson Arizona.
Protests, Marches and Rallies 2015-2024
This slide deck is a small cross sampling of events I have documented between 2015-2024 in Tucson AZ, Nogales AZ, Minneapolis MN, and Oshkosh WI.
