Syrian Sweets
Syria is famous throughout the Middle East for its food--particularly its sweets (halawiyat). Tucson is now home to several dozen newly arrived Syrian families who contributed to the second Syrian Sweets sale at Grace St. Paul Church on 12/17/16. Facilitated completely by volunteers, all donations went directly to the women who prepared the food. The money they raised help them support their families as they get established in their new home.
It's estimated 500 people came to support our Syrian neighbors and new friends.
